Supervision for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Clinical Supervision)

I offer clinical supervision for qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, both online and in-person in Somerset.

My approach to supervision is relational, collaborative, eclectic and pragmatic, offering a safe, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where you can explore your clinical work and professional development in depth.

I believe that effective supervision is not based on one fixed model, but on a responsive and integrative way of workingthat supports the supervisee, the client work, and the wider ethical and professional context.

A strong, trusting supervisory relationship is central to reflective practice, clinical thinking, and sustainable therapeutic work.

My Approach to Clinical Supervision

My supervisory practice is grounded in a relational and integrative framework, drawing on a range of established supervision models and theoretical perspectives.

Rather than working from a single fixed model, I adopt an eclectic and pragmatic approach, tailoring supervision to your needs, your client work, and your stage of professional development.

I draw upon, and am influenced by, the following supervision models:

  • Mazzetti’s Operational Model (2007) – focusing on structure, process, and clarity in supervision

  • Inskipp and Proctor’s Functional Model (1995) – exploring the formative, normative, and restorative functions of supervision

  • Hawkins and Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model (2012) – offering a layered relational and systemic understanding of the supervisory process

Alongside these, I integrate relational, humanistic, psychodynamic, gestalt and transactional analysis perspectives, depending on what best supports the work.

This allows supervision to remain alive, flexible, and clinically responsive, rather than overly rigid or formulaic.

What Supervision Offers

Supervision with me provides a space to reflect on:

  • Your client work and therapeutic process

  • Relational dynamics in the therapy room

  • Emotional impact of clinical work

  • Professional identity and development

  • Working with complexity, uncertainty, and stuckness

Whether you are seeking support with specific clinical material or broader reflective development, supervision is offered as a containing, thoughtful and collaborative space.
